Home Care After Treatment
At Unicorn Dental Group, we’re dedicated to your recovery both in and out of the office. Proper home care after treatment plays a big role in how comfortable your healing process is and how well your results last.
Request an AppointmentAfter certain procedures, such as root canal therapy, your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may feel tender for several days. This tenderness comes from the previous condition of the tooth as well as the manipulation involved during treatment, and it’s completely normal.
Caring for Your Smile After Treatment
Continue your regular dental hygiene routine, but avoid chewing food on the affected side of your mouth until treatment is complete and your dentist has covered the tooth with a protective restoration. This helps prevent damage while the area heals.
Managing Discomfort
Mild discomfort can typically be managed with over-the-counter medication such as ibuprofen (Advil), acetaminophen (Tylenol), or aspirin, taken as directed. We recommend avoiding alcohol while taking any of these medications.
